The Science of Psychic Abilities: What 180 Years of Research Actually Found
Can psychic abilities be studied scientifically? Most would assume they can’t. But, Parapsychology, Psychic Research, or Psi — is an obscure scientific field that has quite literally been studying psychic abilities through a scientific lens for over 180 years.
In the entries below, I’ll explore most of that fascinating research — at least as much as I can. But, this isn’t just any standard overview of the psychic science. My approach is different.
I actually used my science framework to organize this research and even conduct more myself. This framework can study any observable phenomenon 
(even the weird ones) using the 4 known kinds of science research:

Descriptive — Describes the phenomenon by keenly observing it in its natural setting, and identifying its common characteristics, classes, and even the frequency of its occurrence.2.
Evidential — Confirms the phenomenon’s existence by collecting anecdotes about it, then performing controlled experiments on it that are analyzed statistically to detect any effect above chance (which would imply there’s actually something going on besides just chance occurrences).3.
Explanatory — Explains how a phenomenon works by creating detailed theories and mechanisms, then testing whether those theories are true through experiments.4.
Applied — Applies or uses the phenomenon often to solve real world problems, by considering its practical applications and devising techniques and even products to actually practically use the phenomenon.I have never seen any other psychic researcher explicitly organize the field like this, despite the fact that the field has dabbled in all these kinds of research.
I decided to do it because I think it gives it the field more scientific credibility. Many critics don’t consider “Psi” a science. But if it does the same kinds of research that all other scientific fields do, then it’s hard to see how it couldn’t be a proper scientific field. Albeit a very strange one…
So, the ultimate goal of this new framing of the Psi field is to one day scientifically describe, prove, explain, and use — all psychic abilities. This may seem like an impossible goal, but you’d be surprised to see how much of this research has already been done by other psi researchers, for literal decades, even centuries! It just hasn’t been properly laid out in one place. But, that’s what I’m here for!
